May is skin cancer awareness month… particularly melanoma.
Skin cancer is the most common diagnosed cancer in Canada , and also fortunately also one of the most preventable.
In my practice the bulk of my non-cosmetic practice is skin cancer. Preventative measures and early diagnosis with appropriate treatment are key to a great outcome.
Sun avoidance behavior, sun screen and not using tanning booths are the best prevention.
Not only will it help you in reducing the risk of skin cancer but your skin will be healthier and age so much better!! Don’t ignore the biggest organ of your body!
Examine your skin often and photograph and log any new or changing lesions to discuss with your primary physician.
So go on and enjoy our Canadian climate— with a hat on and sunscreen!
