What is a Thigh Lift?

A Thigh Lift is the procedure in which excess skin is removed from around the Thigh due to significant weight loss or loose and hanging skin.

This is often preformed as a day surgery under general anesthesia by Dr. Haywood at the Brampton Civic Hospital or Peel Urgent Care Center.

The surgery takes about 2-3 hours on average. Incisions are intended to be placed where they can be hidden by clothes, baiting suits, underwear, etc.

Is this surgery for me?

The ideal candidate for this type of surgery is someone who has loose and/or hanging skin from weight loss or in general, with a stable and healthy body weight.

An ideal candidate seeking any surgery would be someone who is a non-smoker as smoking significantly affects the ability to heal.

On the day of surgery you will need to be dropped of and picked up by a responsible friend or relative that should stay with you a minimum of 24 hours after surgery or be available to assist you if needed.

Small tubes (drains) may be placed to help temporarily drain excess fluids that may collect after the procedure.

It will take several months for both swelling and bruising to subside.

Aftercare instructions will be provided to you. On average you should refrain from any strenuous activity for 4-6 weeks. Scarring will fade significantly in 6-8 months time. Optimal results are achieved by following your aftercare instructions given to you by Dr. Haywood as well as attending all scheduled follow-up appointments. Scarring will significantly fade with the proper care – such as using Vivier Scar Gel that we suggest all patients use to reduce the visibility of the scar(s).

All surgeries include access to Home Care Services such as wound clinics for any dressing changes or any needs if Dr. Haywood is unavailable.
